Deep Carve Mandala

The three of us worked on this wicked piece for several months. Scotty has always inspired me to push the fold of what's possible with borosilicate, and it was an honor to do so with him and Carlyn on this project.
I stepped well outside my comfort zone to execute a three layer carve and learned a fair share throughout the process. Deep carving is radically different than surface carving, it was an exciting challenge to explore concepts of depth and shaping while still retaining crisp linework. Scott and I handed it back and forth a couple times as we worked out the puzzles along the way. Carlyn cut a super unique wrap around step-cut style windowed centerpiece, and Scotty designed a new style facade to fuse it all together.
